Are you sure they are not just tacking an "A" at the end of the
part number and quoting on that - after all the dealer does know more than
us right!? I called Hub City Motors - the VW dealer in Prince George
about this and those non-A part numbers are not valid. The
part numbers with "A" next to them are listed as halogen, but
are still the 9004 bulb DOT spec lights. In the USA at least, it
would be illegal for VW to sell non-DOT approved lights.
Remember you also need more than just the light shells for the european
lights. You also need the weather boot for the back, park light bulb
holder, park light bulb and the main H4 bulb and an H4 wiring plug as
well. When Fast Forward was a going concern I had LOTS of people
telling me I was ripping every one off with my light pricing as someone
else was just quoting them on just the shells and they didn't want to
realise that. You need all the extra little bits or else the first
time it rains you will get water in the lights and that's not good!
