I Bought my 88GL in DEC 2005. I called
VW America because my Vanagon didn't have
Campaign 93V175000 (Air Cond Duct) repaired.
VW honored the recall on my Vanagon along with
the Fuel Line sheath campaign for which I don't
have the campaign number. They instructed me to
call a VW dealer. The dealer will order the
recall kits and call you back to set up an appointment
when the parts come in. When you call VW America
they will ask for your Vanagon serial number.
They will query the serial number in their
database and advise you on which campaigns were
not completed for your Vanagon.

I think the free repair is long since past. I had it done by the local
stealership. While it worked, I wasn't happy with the attitude I got (
they didn't want to acknowledge the recall nor look for it) nor with the
repair. Part of my gripe was that the tunnel actually fell, and
shattered the ends of the tunnel segments. The stealership managed to
get the kit to work, but they refused any responsibility on the part of
VW for repair/replacement of the damaged tubes. And it looked like crap!
I made a couple of aluminum straps three inches wide, wrapped them under
the tube as support. Painted and padded them. Looks fairly decent.
Covers the broken out chunks of plastic that broke when falling and
prevents air leaks. Fastened the straps to the cross beam in the ceiling
with a big screw and wide washer - one on each side of the tunnel. Best
I was able to do. But it works better than the two dinky little plates
they used in the recall kit.
