Hi Loren Yes, in 1987 you could buy a Vanagon with manual steering. Here are most of the parts that are different... (I'm using ETKA as a guide) Steering wheel. Power is smaller Input shaft to the rack from Steering wheel. Power uses a different input shaft to the rack (shorter) and it is fitted with a universal joint rather than a rubber disk. Steering rack. The power rack is not the same (duh). Tie rods. I believe the tie rods are the same (unconfirmed). Suspension knuckles. The front suspension knuckles are different between power and non. Additional items. Power Steering pump, reservoir, hoses, engine bracket, belt, crank pulley (?), switch for idle control and wiring. Iım sure there are parts that I havenıt accounted for. Good luck this is a big job.
