Agreed, and let's not forget that the US just went through a major election cycle and there were very very few on-list references. I think that's pretty damned amazing, and that's something for which I'm quite grateful. I just recently ascended to the hallowed halls of moderatordom over on an automotive discussion board, and I'll confirm that its a rather thankless and dreary job.
