This is an interesting thread to me. I've known nothing CV bolts-wise until the two shop owners I've used here in Salt Lake, one in the biz since '59 the other since early 60's. Both have recommended that when it was time to do CV work to be sure and use "12-point" bolts. Hmmmmmmm ...

'87 Syncro Westy with rear 930 axles/CV's with some sort of star-patterned bolts which obviously use a special tool.
