Michael You and Jim use Gmail, it certainly handles email differently that regular IMAP or POP3 email systems.  It goes by the header information of the email and strings it all together to provide you the full context of said message, well at least in theory.  The issue with that is if you take this email for example and hit reply changing the subject and the body there is a good possibility it will assume it the same conversion even though you mean to change it entirely and just wanted to recycle the email address information.  Personally I would never use Gmail or anything serious as all my email would be subject to the US Patroit Act to be read by big brother at random and without cause as well as Google's bots that read my email so they can display advertising suited just for me.  For the sake of convention and for consideration of others I will continue to remove the fluff and not the stuff from my emails.  Now if we can remove those stupid footers on each of these messages it would cetainly be more progress in the space wasted subject!
