Hi Volks,

A wire-feed welder is a good way to go. I did this process with a baywindow about 8 years ago, and that's what I used. BUT... if I were doing another I would SERIOUSLY consider an epoxy over welding. It's a lot more available now than it was back in 1999.

This is how a great many modern vehicles are assembled. The epoxy winds up being stronger than the metal it's bonding. (So why aren't we driving cars made of epoxy? Hmmmm....) The major advantage to epoxy is that the process does not involve excessive heat or sparks... You don't have to worry about the risk of fire, or about the heat from the welds destroying the paint protecting the metal in areas you can't see.

If you're researching what to use, give this option some thought, and be sure to document the process as mentioned.
