You can try searching with Google -- but as many have pointed out, for some reason it does not find everything.

The archive search CAN be very slow, but one thing I've found that can REALLY speed it up is to limit it by date. For example I wanted to find a post I vaguely recalled as happening sometime in the first part of the year, and by adding those date constraints I would get search results in just a few seconds.
