I had an incident which may be relevant. I noticed my recently purchased, and used, 90 GL Automatic sitting in a puddle, in my driveway, on a dry day. I ran out to find the fuel pump running and fuel pouring out of the air intake. The keys were in the off position, so I disconnected the battery ground wire. The engine compartment wiring harness was melted together, from right side engine compartment to left, beginning at one of these two wires that go to the PS switch, where it had fallen off of the spade connection and gone to ground. The plastic sheathes that these two connectors usually have, had been replaced by uninsulated female connectors, by the PO. My observation here is that instead of protecting this loop with a fuse, it was deemed sufficient to sheath the connectors in plastic to prevent grounding in the event one fell off. So I ask, am I seriously off track here, or is this something we should all address?? Interestingly, I replaced the harness with one from an 85 GL and there was only one minor difference, and that was in how the fuel pump made its connection to the harness............ Thanks, Miguel
