I've done the tent changing process just fine.........
but I'm curious what you are talking about here :

I use a sharp scribe to lift the tabs, while using a fine tipped flat scre
driver
to pop these off! It's fast & easy once ya get the hang(drum) of it ! :o)"
btw, if anyone is getting a hankering to have a poptop to play with like
this,
I have an entire poptop and front 'roof rack' portion and hardware for sale.
