Sweet deal all right. I would have jumped on it.
Trouble is though .........it's too nice to take apart for parts.
now you'll have to get another el cheopo so you can keep this one supplied
with back-up parts.
And the automatics...........I WISH it was a more evolved and efficient
automatic.
I even prefer a good automatic, but a 3 speed vanagon auto trans is 'just
ok' .
I think you're pretty far from Oregon......
I could use a good used automatic too I think, in case you do part it out.

Nice find. You'd have been crazy not to buy it for that price. Be sure to
get your wife something extra special for Christmas that is not
Vanagon-related.

I got my first van just a couple months ago. This will be my second.
I've come to understand that a smart Vanagon owner should have a good
stash of spare parts on hand. I found this van for sale as a parts
machine on The Samba. It's complete and has all the spare parts I
could need, although mine is a 4-speed and this an automatic.
The thing is, it's in such good shape, I'm going to feel bad about
using it for parts. But I only paid $350 for it so there is no way I
can amass a collection of spare parts for that small a price.
Here is what I got for $350:
