how odd . are you rough on things, or never lube them ? for sure the top of the screw part is underbuilt some......... but I lube 'em there, and especially the long threaded part down the center of the jack, and I use them carefully, but no problems ever. Most of the time I'm using floor jacks and jack stands of course........ but I use my 'quickie yard jack' 8 times a month for one reason or another on various vanagons..........never a problem.
