For a period of time, I had 2 strips of the 120VAC Wal-Mart led lights mounting along the perimeter of the ceiling.  They were a bit ugly in the daytime, but at night, they gave just the right amount of light inside the van as long as I was plugged in to shore power.  The light wasn't so bright that it kept the kids awake, but it was enough to see around and even to be able to read a book.  I've always thought that a set of 12V led lights would work out great.

If someone had the time they could remove all of the wooden ceiling pieces in a Westy, drill holes and add recessed led lighting all over the place.  Better yet, they could arrange the led's in patterns, add a controller and spell out words.

Hey, why not just mount a couple of flat screen tvs flush with the ceiling and hinged so they would fold down.  You could have light by displaying a white screen and you could watch movies (LOL).
