Somehow this van looks to noce to part out. How about trying to fix it and use the profit to get new parts for your main ride? Old parts sitting for years often become bad installations later on anyway.

On a Dolly Vanagons tow best on Dollies with the rear wheels down. Just unbolt the axle shafts at the wheel side.

The tow dolly should have brakes. If towing through multiple state you need to check the laws for the states you will travel through. Some state now require the towed vehicles to be registered and insured.

I got my first van just a couple months ago. This will be my second. I've come to understand that a smart Vanagon owner should have a good stash of spare parts on hand. I found this van for sale as a parts machine on The Samba. It's complete and has all the spare parts I could need, although mine is a 4-speed and this an automatic.

The thing is, it's in such good shape, I'm going to feel bad about using it for parts. But I only paid $350 for it so there is no way I can amass a collection of spare parts for that small a price.

Here is what I got for $350: <http://www.kippert.com/parts_vanagon/>
