Yes the van has Zetec power but this seems to be the only instance of
this sort of issue so I don't think that it is Zetec related. The
clutch set and pilot bearing were replaced when I installed the engine
about 10,000 miles ago. The first instance of the disc not fully
releasing did happen early on but unless I feather the clutch to creep
under load operation is normal.
To answer Edward if I experience this condition and I turn the engine
off, leave the transmission in gear and depress the clutch and attempt
to restart then the van will move on the starter.
Although "pumping" the clutch pedal when the disc does not release
does not help and the pedal feels normal, I have ordered a new master
and slave as this stuff is almost 24 tears old. So that should take
the hydraulics out of the equation.
