Jeff (and list), It's just the nature of folks. A few years ago I sold a set of brand new 1700 P&C's to a guy from an ad on the Samba. When he received them, he posted a message on the type2 list about how he had bought a set of 1700 pistons and cylinders from a guy on the type2 list, and they had arrived that day. He went on to say that the box (shipped via Fed Ex) looked like it had been delivered by Jim Carey in "Pet Detective". The box was crushed on all sides and every cylinder had cracked fins. The "angry mob" mentality on the type2 list surprised me. A lot of folks wanted to know who the seller was, they were ready to come after ME with a rope. I couldn't believe it-no mention of Fed Ex's responsibility in the situation. I almost gave up on the whole VW thing right then and there. In the end, Fed Ex paid the guy the full retail value of the P&Cs (which was a lot more than he paid me), and I got them back in the damaged box-and he was right, the box looked like it had been run over by the delivery truck. Still, I was shocked at the number of folks who just assumed I had cheated the guy. Jeff

Most of them have never even seen Go Westy's operation or a Go Westy restored camper (they're quite impressive). I'm not sure if it's jealousy, envy, or something else at work, but it sure ain't pretty. Just my two cents. Happy new year, Jeff |
