This is a fun topic. The question of how we found the list is quite puzzling. I remember buying my '84 back in '93 and knew nothing of the list. I had to rely on the dealer for parts and that almost got me divorced.... When I got my current '83 in '96 I remember finding this list somehow. Ron Salmon was parting out vans on his front lawn years before the Bus Depot was a twinkling in his eye. The list was both air cooled and involved a few Eurovan owners. I can actually prove that because I still have the "vangon.lenti.edu" T-Shirt with the splitty, bay, Vanagon and EV on it. The subscription information MUST have been listed in a hard copy document like the Limbo newsletter or something for us to find it. This was years before the web browser became popular. Anyway, it was this list that led me to all the aftermarket vendors that allowed me to keep my '83 up and running with very affordable used and aftermarket parts. I think my first aftermarket part was the CA fan switch from the VolksCafe that allows my fan to kick on at a lower temperature. They were sending cookies back then too! :)

And how about that group purchase of Propex heaters back in the '90's? We all sent our $550 to a list member and a crate full or Propex's arrived out west awhile later. We then learned that our "shipment" was so large that we needed a customs lawyer to do the paperwork. We all had to cough up a few more dollars to get our heaters untied from the skid....
