Subject: What is the correct way to determine CV axle length?

<style type="text/css"> -> </style> I am in the process of (re)building the rear drive shaft for my LT 4x4 Volksmogen project. What is the correct way to determine how long I need to make an axle shaft between two CVs. For those who are not familiar with the project, I installed some Unimog u900 axles on my LT 4x4. The issue is that I have a compound angle needed for the rear drive shaft. Originally we used a single universal at the rear and a double universal at the front (thus making a CV) but at any speed over 2000 rpm it vibrated like crazy as we were running too much of an angle. So, in my scrap pile was a rear differential form an Audi 5000S quattro that uses 108mm CVs. I remove those drive flanges, which by the way will not bolt on to a Vanagon front diff or gear box in case you were wondering what I was wondering and had them modified to fit the transfer case and rear pinion of my Volksmogen project. Porsche 930 CVs are said to run at up to 25 degrees which is a greater angle that what I need. Real CVs as opposed to two universals stacked also makes a much smaller unit so the overall length of the drive shaft will be longer making the angles less &ndash; again a win situation for me. The price of a Porsche 930 CV is a lot less than the Spicer universals I was running &ndash; in the case of a field repair, six bolts and a circlip is all that is needed to replace one. Really for me a winning situation. Also, are Audi 5000S quattro CV boots going to work with Porsche 930 CVs?
