Wire of 1.5mm is slightly smaller than 14 gauge.

Trying to use the old fridge wires to charge a battery is a bad idea. That wire run is too small diameter and too long of a run distance. I'm not saying it can't work, only that it will charge slowly at best and sometimes not at all.

The simplest way is to run wires between the 2 battery boxes, using a battery relay kit sold various places. A better way is to use a Yandina 100 or similar product, again running a wire between the battery boxes.
