I came on the list around 97 when I bought my first Vanagon and started
trying to find parts to fix it up. I called Chris Turner because I saw
a bunch of ads he had on "Demented Dworkin's Used Bus Bits" site (I lie
not that was the name). He asked me if I had heard about the "vanagon
list". I told him I had not and he told me where to go to sign up. The
rest is history. Shortly thereafter I spoke to Bob Donalds for the
first time on the phone with a question and we became friends over the
years as well. It has been great to be on the list all these years and
to even meet many of you. I have even had the pleasure to be treated as
a celebrity by some members who wanted their pictures taken with me
(that was a strange feeling). We have had so many of the Vanagon
community come here and spend the night parked in our yard, eat a meal
with us, etc. It has been great to be part of the community for the
past 10 years (working on 11). Viva la Vanagon List!

Forgot his first name, but last name was Ford. He had a beagle with him. He was traveling in a 78 bus. Along the route he put together a diary on the internet. A couple of years ago I ran across the site, but this morning I couldn't find it. At the time he stayed with us, my son Alex was a toddler and drove Mr. Ford crazy. Tragically, the dog got hit by a car while en-route.
