I was always under the impression that the country homes campers were made
from converted Tin Top busses, meaning the roof is still round. Therefore
you have the same problems associated with converting a tintop to a
Westfalia, except you already have a hole and some kind of bed that might
not fit with the Westfalia top. The "RIGHT" way to do it is generally to cut
the whole roof off and weld the whole top off a westfalia on due to the
completely different bracing and structure of the Westfalia roof. You could
of course do this.
The other solution is to use the "big hole method" of cutting a hole in the
vanagon roof, adding a poptop, and being happy, though you end up with a
problem when using the stock westfalia top bed, as the "front" piece won't
store up there and you'll have to carry seperately (at least that's the case
in my conversion).

They cut and bend the existing roof to be compatible with the westfalia bed
and add their own cross brace....
