Likely you or your friend have looked, but look at Bentley P 90.23 for
the Dynamic Control Unit pinout. P 97.74 is the '86 electrical diagram
and shows a Yellow 0.5 wire from the high pressure sender to the
Dynamic Oil Pressure Control Unit.
Maybe try grounding the pin T14 (double check that this info is
accurate and confirm with a VOM for continuity from T14 to the correct
pin shown on P 90.23) Grounding it should "tell" the Dynamic .... Unit
that there is a high pressure switch present and working normally.

FWIW, the cluster I pulled from my '85 parts Vanagon, has a "place"
for the Dynamic Oil Pressure Control Unit, but none is present and
IIRC, there is no flexible PCB present for it either. I understand '85
was a crossover year for some electrical stuff.
Hopefully someone like Mark D will correct me if I'm wrong! :)
