Hi Volks,
I'm sure BenT expected me to chime in here:
I installed an aftermarket AC unit (Blower and Evap) under the rear seat of
my DC and it works marginally at this point. If I drive in 90 degree weather
for 15 minutes it cools off the cab alright, but it isn't blowing in your
face.
I will likely upgrade the system again, bigger blowers and bigger Evap.
The condenser is the stock unit forward of the radiator. I started with a
condenser under the truck with a blower...not big enough for the job.
The radiator fan is tri-wired to run when when the system pressure gets low.
Simply put, it's better to get a system that blows from the top down and in
your face. Mine is under the rear seat and has a harder time to circulate
the air around. If it was piped to the headliner, it would be a better
system, but just try to find a path.
For life in CA, it works.
Kim

Hi Florian,
I have never seen a Doka with the AC option but have seen retrofitted
systems.
Technically, the following systems are from 7-passenger vans:
1) Behr in-dash system. Perfect for Doka IMHO.
2) Pre-86 overhead AC. Stickers inside say Klima. I assumed that was the
brand but might just mean AC in German. Downside is evaporator and blowers
are near the driver & front passenger's head. Trick is support for right
side because that is normally on the slidign door track. Been done a lot of
times.
3) Dealer installed DPD aftermarket AC systems. Close to a clone of the Behr
only better IMHO. As Dan Fleming pointed out, the Behr is difficult to fit
because of the big brass bulkhead fitting. The DPD just needs two holes
drilled for the AC hoses.
4) As for the post-86 AC systems, I can only see using portions of thew
system. The ductwork will need to bew custom made. Unsuitable as a system
IMO.
5) Custom systems: Well that's another topic.

if it fits under the rear seat that would be a great option.... can anyone
who owns a doka and a seven passenger chime in? BenT?
