lol......... really ? 'twah regg' .............lol ! sounds French. Makes me want to say Twat Rag........and we know what that would be !

At least Porsche was smart enough to name their version with an understandable to 'Melicans name....... and I get the impression they outsell VW 10 to one with that platform. Only makes sense too..............you've got a 100,000 dollar 911 or two in your driveway....... a 90,000 dollar matching SUV is a 'natural.'

and I WISH vw would keep with their qirky and 'differernt than the masses' former strategy.

take for example Toyota's retro Land Cruiser.. I don't know how they sell, but for being upright, funky, and indsutrial looking, they stand out head and shoulders above all the other roundy shapped things. VW's have always been 'a little different' or even a Whole Lot Different ..........they need to keep after that aspect and avoid 'me too' styling and marketing.

Scott,

I believe it to be pronounced "Twah-regg".

I once saw a TV special on its namesake North African tribesmen...nomadic, fierce fighters....people you don't want to challenge to a knife fight.

Sorta boring they're bringing out that name - Lupo , again.Nothing THAT wrong with that name though........at least it's easilypronouncible.I thinnk VW is a bit 'name chanllenged' .........Take ' t o u a r e g' ............there vowels in a row ?how do you pronounce that ? ............... 'too ah reg' ? I haveneveractually heard the name spoken anywhere. My tendency is to just call or spell it 'tour egg'.That's almost like they didn't research the name well for all cultures, andended up with a name that means Outhouse or something equally clueless insome cultures." Hey honey........take the Outhouse and pick up the kids woulda please!"I thought 'Imrpesza' for a car name was a bit cheesy as it's atoo-closeadaptation of 'impressive' .........butthat name seems to work just fine after 10 years or so. Plus we usuallyjust call them WRX's now, or STi's, if it's the right version.Andat leastthere's no doubt on how to pronounce Impreza.Back to VW .........to start a whole movement and craze with the VW Rabbitcar in the 70's........brilliant, but then turn around and call it a'golf'......what the heck is that about ??? Why not call it the Golf Ball, or theBaseball. And now, some 30 years later............they have a Rabbit car again in theshowrooms.I'd like to see names like the " BelchFire Thunderbolt' broughtback. Or theRustFast.now that I really like !!Free Government Financing on all 2008 RustFasts in stock !I've always known consumerism is stupid...........just tears up theplaentand spreads a few toys around - like humans really need that.I had hoped they'd learn a lesson with this recent crash..........but no.........the gov is going to GIVE money to the toy makers, ( autmotivemanufactureers ) so they can keep making more and more toys, to create'jobs' ........Apprently they have not really learned anything yet - and are digging thesame hole yet deeper.Picture a entire planet that's a dead zone, covered over in shiny newunsoldcars. Will humans *ever* wake up ? One wonders. But give me a good old fashioned not-insanely-electronic andcomputer-controlled RustFast any ole day, and I'll be happy.Or a decent Vanagon.........now THERE is a logica,l well though-out not toocomplicated machine.Get around that stupid head gasket issue and low power...........and it'sthe perfect vehicle. At least the sun is out for a change - yay !----- Original Message -----From: "Jim Akiba" <syncrolist@BOSTIG.COM>To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM>Sent: Friday, January 09, 2009 3:07 PMSubject: Re: VW concept van at MotorTrend Car show in San Jose> The vast majority of all automotive exterior design work is done in> California now, this is across all big makers, so it won't be dieter> and fritz>> On Fri, Jan 9, 2009 at 5:12 PM, B Feddish <bfeddish@netreach.net>wrote:>> Oh, geez.
