Excellent, so many thanks for posting this!

I was thinking that a cableshift would be the way to go for the Porsche G50/50 trans, as a 964 shifter tower used is about $650US... ouch! That's without the work needed to install it and modify the shift-rods (the G50 has an inline coaxial shifter like the older VWs).

As well, the Porsche shifter lever woulod need to be lengthened for use in the van... hello, flex and vagueness!! No thanks.

I was looking at using an AE80 Corolla (1987) shifter and modifying the Toyota cables. This setup would have the advantage of allowing the stock short Corolla shifter to be mounted with the knob at suitable level, with the cables running forward and under the dash, then down through a grommeted hole in the van's chin and then back to the trans.

The website shows me some great ideas as to what to do and what not to.
