i have to agree with Daryl on this matter i've been on and off the list since about 1998. a while back when the post that started the 'good old days' thread came across the list and said that there are only some 800 members i was surprised and not surprised.

i was surprised that membership had dropped that low, however having been back on the list for several months now it had seemed to me like technical content had given way to alot of verbal masturbation. i had wondered if many of the good technical posters were just keeping quite and letting the other talk until their hearts content. however with that low membership number it obvious that the list is seeing a loss of people.

if you search the archives you will find a post that Mark Drillock made some years back about the changing demographic of vanagon owners. i still think that email is an interesting read.

one can also read the nytimes articles about this very email list and see how well what they are experiencing today stacks up to what was described in that article. in general i hate message boards so i remain here and not somewhere else.
