Thanks, Mike,

I'm going to try it the way you describe, since I was only intending to pull the one axle shaft out anyway. Too cold to do more than is necessary at the moment. Now just waiting on the axle bearings and seals for that side (going to pull the shaft out on account of the bolts are all broken, and looks like I may as well get it out in the open to work on).

I'll post an update probably after the weekend, after it's back together, and before the next snow! :0)
