Hi Volks,

Mark Dearing at Salem Import Service in VA recommended I try http://www.car-part.com/ . Through that link I managed to find the part at a wrecker about an hour from home for $200 complete.

In the meanwhile I've been enjoying the use of my parents' 1985 automatic westy. My left foot hardly knows what to do with itself.
