from that wonderful Broadway play, which ran for years and years (ok, so it was only one night!) ... Mechanic on the Roof or Never Try to Chase A Goat :) If I Were A Rich Man (sung by Heavy, an old worn out VW mechanic)
If I were a rich man, I would buy up all the Vanagons, from all around the world ... Syncros, Campers, Ambulances, too ... That is what I want to do! If I were a rich man, I would buy a Vanagon of every model of each year, Aircooled, Diesel, Watercooled, it's true ... That is what I really want to do! I'd build a huge garage to keep my buses Right in the middle of the town, With lots of good mechanics to give them care. I'd have a thousand tools for every mechanic ... And several hundred just for spare ... And they'd all be so happy working there! If I were a rich man, I would have a different bus to drive for every different day, All the colors from the bright rainbow ... Even colors you don't know! If I were a rich man ... But it looks like that will never ever ever come to be ... I have just a single Vee-dub van ... I will never be a wealthy man.
<spoken> God who made the Chevy and the Ford When you must been just really really bored, Could it be a private little joke That you keep me penniless and broke? :) (for anyone who would like a 1.6mbyte musical accompaniment (karoke style) for the above pharscial wimsey, lemme know and i'll send it to you (off-list, of course!). unca joel |
