and for those not in the know when meeting a bear ... quiet retreat in reverse while talking softly is the best bet do not look the bear in the eye -- do not climb trees -- do not run ... bears are way faster than us ... 100 yards in less than 6 seconds

with cougars .. lots of noise .. waver stick and look large -- throw rocks and such if you get the chance -- which will be very unlikely as cougars are the alligator of the forest-- sitting on limbs to drop down on unsuspecting dinner ... shoud you find your self tangled with a cat ... fight like a crazy person-- fight like the lady with the syncro from the parking lot muggings -- stab and poke and punch the cat --

also a good tactic with bears and cats is to have a quick word of prayer with god ... yours
