Subject: The Routan is dead!?

Interesting read:

http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/30/routan-bust-vw-asks-chrysler-to-stop-building-minivans-for-febr/

I am surprised sales are so low... having driven a Chrysler mini-van for work and realizing it was a piece of due to bad suspension and interior trim and then taking a Routan for a quick spin, Volkswagen corrected those issues and made the vehicle actually quite nice for a family with 2.4 children that need to get all their crap from home to grandma's and back.  If I didn't need four wheel drive I would seriously consider buying a Routan.

No the Routan isn't the quality of a Volkswagen T5 Multivan - far from it!  But for under 30.000 it is a damn fine vehicle.  Volkswagen was smart with this can 'cause no body here would by an $80.000 T5 as people here want disposable crap they can trade in after four years to drive.
