sure.
if I just can not get the drum to come off the flange.........the thing the
drum sits on,
even after soaking with penetrant, heating, and tactful hammer persuasion
efforts.....................
I just remove the drum and flange as one piece, via the big nut. Pull those
off together,
then it's real easy to pop the flange out of the drum. .......just put in on
the floor, 'facing down'..............give it a whack and the flange pops
right out of the drum.
I don't consider a hook type puller, or any kind of puller, to be an option,
not for getting the drum off the flange.
Even after the big nut is off.........
I've had the drum and flange assembly be hard to get off............either
caught on brake shoes due to a lip worn in the edge of the drum, or stuck
on the splines of the axle. There are puller's for that, that connects onto
the wheel studs and pushes the axle in. I've had to resort to that a time
or two, but normally this operation wouldn't be needed.
if it's necessary to back off the adjustment some on the shoes, it's
possibly, but tricky to do, through a hole in the backing plate just for
that purpose.
it's good to remove things anyway, so they don't get too stuck together
........makes it 'workable on' for the future.
