Doesn't look like a Vanagon to me... too much hood, exhaust on the driver's side... other items as well.

In this case, a thing a "rear engine" would not have been a good thing!!!

Great pictures great story. I just saw a flash of the van and couldn'treally tel what it was, though what I did see made me think "Vanagon" - an in an awful predicament.

Glad the guy got out alive. I wonder what happened to the van, ultimately. Not worth much after that, and a potential eyesore on the landscape at that.
