To be more precise, the small Propex unit is 6700 btu, so the Atwood isn't quite twice the output. :-) If you have already, check and adjust your propane regulator: if it isn't adjusted to the recommended 14 wci pressure the Propex may not be operating at full efficiency.

Also, the larger HS2800 units that are currently in use are putting out about 11,000 btu (Propex mistakenly jetted them too big and they exceed rated output). Both as you know are less than half the size of the Atwood and have far more sophisticated safety features.

At the price of the Atwood, however, it seems worthwhile for someone to modify it slightly to fit directly in the compartment without a spacer.
