If you look carefully at the plug in this link <http://www.amotostuff.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=PPL-001&Category_Code=powerlet> you can see that the positive contact is shaped like the tip contact of a phone plug, strongly suggesting that the plug would snap into place like a phone plug. The negative contacts have a good wiping action as the plug is inserted and appear to me to be adjustable for fit. There is no latch to positively retain the plug; but there's also no spring-loaded tip contact always trying to shove the plug out of the jack.
