The transformer/power supply for my HP flat screen monitor took a crap last week and being without the monitor is sorta like being without a computer. So, I got to digging around and found out the output of the power supply is 12VDC and a 4.15 amp current draw. No big box store had a new one and the computer repair places had no used ones. What a Mother to do? Tried plugging in my trusty wall power adaptor for something else that burned up that had 12V and 1400ma of current. and the screen would run for a few minutes and drop out Repeated tries got the same results. Touched the transformer and it was pretty warmish so I'm thinking thermocouple. Finally took the spare Vanagon 12V car battery out of the shop and used it for power supply. That, coupled with the Craftsman in trickle charge mode, we've had no problems since. New power supply on ebay was like $17 with free shipping. At least it's keeping me in touch with all my Vanagon buds temprarily.
