Al,
  These flaps look great, but functionally are not very robust. As soon as
your front wheels step over a log, rock or curb, the rigid type flaps are
the first thing to bottom out on said obstacle and snap. (Personal
experience) Stick with the flexible type which can withstand a bit more
abuse and don't reduce your ground clearance.

Any of yous guys have the same problem I've been having?  I got a set of the
moulded plastic mudflaps of south african origin.  Mounted them up, then
within a week or two, it's missing the lower 5 inches.  Just snaps off and
litters the roadway.  In the hopes that "third time's a charm", I've given
it one last whirl.

FWIW, the rears have held up fine for years now.

Anyone else have this happen?
