According to KYB's current catalog, there is no choice like this between the two models. The GR-2 is only for the front (2WD part #345006, Syncro #344082). The Gas-a-Just is only for the rear (2WD part #KG5557, Syncro #KG5459). They spec the same part number for 2WD L, GL, and Campmobile models. They very well may make other compatible shocks that are re-branded for other manufacturers, but those, of course are not in their catalog.

I use the Bilstein HD with the Van-Cafe (aka Syncro.org) 2WD springs and 215/75-15 tires. They have just barely enough damping for my taste, especially in the rear. If the Gas-a-Just is stiffer, I may be interested in trying some. Heck, maybe I should try the Syncro part.
