In comparing R12 and R134a systems on cars here, it seems the condenser design is different: The R12 uses round tubes, R134a uses flat tubes. This begs the question: Has anyone retrofitted a newer type condenser to a Vanagon to achieve better air conditioner results? The project I'm working on now has a 134a compressor, and IF there is a condenser that would retrofit with a thinner profile it would aid my progress enormously: I'm attempting to fit a 3/4" thick intercooler radiator ahead of the condenser.
