Yes, they were all diesels. Starting in 1986 about 2 thirds were Turbo Diesels. In 87 a special 1.7 diesel only used in Vanagons was added to replace the very first 1.6 that was used in all the cars too. The old 1.6 which we also got here in 82/83 were pretty bad from a power and longevity standpoint in Vanagons. Enough so that VW built a special replacement, the 1.7 KY, used for the next 6 years, but only in T3 products. Mark
