I have the autozone lifetime warranty alternator and i must say, i am happy with it. The peace of mind of being able to get a free replacement is nice. You do however, take a serious loss in quality in my mind. I am on my 3rd one. I went through the first two in a week, only the third one fully worked. I believe you have to work at it to get one that works, then it will work within the expected lifetime of the product (with free replacement after that).

You can buy a quality rebuild, or you can buy crap with a warranty. I've been told these aren't rebuilt at all and just get a new regulator, brushes, and paint job.... but that is all hearsay. Meanwhile, I can live with crap and a warranty!
