When the thermostat was bad on my '85 (overcooling) I had to block off most of the radiator with cardboard just so the engine would run right. Of course, after replacing the thermostat, it ran great again. Not only will a stuck open thermostat cause poor running, it will cause increased wear. Cooler is not better ... below normal operating temperature that is. Mike |
