Well, it took me long enough but I finally got to install the new T-Stat in Grover today. That sure did the trick - gauge is back to normal position (just shy of the light) and I have plenty of heat now.

Thanks to everyone's advice I also didn't have any trouble with the plastic T-Stat housing either. Gave all 4 screws a health dose of liquid wrench and let it sit for a while before I even tried putting a socket on them. No problems at all thank you to all who provided some advice.

So time to show my lack of knowledge again but I do have a question. Since it was esentially over cooling (so I've been told) could that contribute to some of the poor running I was having as well? (kinda Vanagon syndrome type symptoms). I only ask because it ran perfectly on my test drive after doing the work.

It's supposed to get colder again tomorrow so my commute to work should be much more pleasant than it has been. :)
