After years of hand-wringing and much timidity, I just took the plunge and modified a spare set of Mercedes rims to fit my van. Thanks to this list, I was alerted to the existence of one Loogy character over on The Samba who provided me with the correct length ball-seat bolts/nuts and 7mm spacers. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=203519&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0&sid=19a8a7459bd4aa471baf67365e5fc6fd Ironically, he's only about 60 miles from me. I didn't think drilling out the rims was that big of a deal (tedious), but pulling the rear hubs to replace the studs was a royal PITA--and I'm reminded why I hate drum brakes yet again. So, now that I've got the bling thing goin' on, I think I should lower the van just a smidge. Should I cut the springs or step up to H&Rs? http://users.zhonka.net/zeitgeist/Volkswagen/SLK%20rims%20after.JPG
