It isn't necessary to remove the big nut as the drums are separate from the hubs. I replaced the drums, shoes, hardware, and wheel cylinders on my '85 Westy without removing the hubs. The hubs have a notch which allows removal of the adjuster mechanisms but, of course, you have to turn the hubs until the notches are where they need to be. I would strongly recommend that you replace parts on BOTH sides and not just one. Mike |
