They do, which is why I had to drill the 18" alloys, which were off a Camry (no, my van doesn't have stock bolt-pattern).

A 2000 CLK has 12mm studs, but the big Mercs have 14mm.

ET is the real problem... you don't want the wheels to foul the suspension or the fenders (I've had both!)... or to screw-up the handling. With the right ET you can fit wheels up to 18x11" on the back of our vans; fronts, I think, a little narrower. But of course the ET differs from width to width.
