If you live long enough, you discover that the old timer's in any trade
will have long list's of simple tricks/ shortcuts/etc up their sleeves
on both arms - things gleaned from years of working the trade - and they
most times are very simple, by-pass a lot of new-fangled technology that
is not handy, misplaced somewhere, has a dead battery or corroded
terminals, etc,  and save hours of farting around. Simple is nearly
always better, and when not better, then at least good enough to save
the day at awkward times.  Sometimes it's as simple as putting a screw
in the hole in the gas tank to get home or - using your kids crayola to
find the cold cylinder. Nothing against technology, mind you, I have
some of it myself, but I learned a long time ago that the KISS Principle
(Keep It Simple Stupid! - for those that aren't familiar with the
acronym)  was developed over time and on the shoulders of those who have
gone before and has great credence. And I try to stick to it.
