That shouldn't be much of a factor if the thermostat is working correctly, Tom. Once the engine is warmed up, it doesn't even know it's winter. That's why I use 5W 50 when it's really cold out. When I first start up (cold engine) it thinks the oil is about 5 weight and when it gets up to operating temperature, it thinks it's about 50 weight.
