OK, thanks to all who emailed about helping with this project.  Neil
sent me some detailed measurements that has allowed the manufacturer to
give me a ball park figure of around $475 a unit.  For a custom made
short production part I think this is not a bad price.  What I need now
is someone to ship me a bad core that you don't care if it gets cut up.
The manufacturer needs one to cut open and check the internals.  If you

I really appreciate your help.  I these new cores are going to be all
metal and should last another 20 years.  I am just glad to have
something to help people keep their vans going.  You can always bypass
your rear core but the front one is kinda important in the winter
(defrost and heat).
