well yea you can pull out that big allen bolt on each side of the hinge, on all model vanagon seats, and they will lay flat...but..

ive only done that once or twice, swivaled the front pass seat facing backwards, removed both allen bolts, and laid the seatback on the dash..

cheap and easy.. but not as convienient as EV seats with a crank knob tho i must say.
